These pigments are really nice. They have a very natural look and remind me of watercolors...very different from the piece we discussed in the crit where you were working out ideas with the border. The new texture makes the overlapping faces interesting because for me it transcends that 'textile look'. The more natural feel offers more value contrast and gives me more to look at within the piece. Good quality pictures thanks! I don't think I'll be uploading work from my studio using my Ipad camera anymore, it's just too weak as far as detail quality is concerned...

YOW! The palette is transitioning to some thing warmer and elemental, which is a new. Can't wait to see these in the flesh next Wed.

Thank you both for commenting. I have been thinking about slow art which was referenced in another part of this blog as well as in a short conversation I had with Amie about politics and media in art. How can an image be timeless and still maintain relevance? Alice A. has made similar comments.

This is beautiful. I like the word "elemental". The colors bring Africa to mind, partly because of the red earthy color and partly because the black and white prints remind me of an African print. I love the contrast between the misty background, full of soft color, and the sharper black patterns in the foreground.

I really enjoyed seeing this in reality as well. The contrast of texture is really absorbing, as is the variety of stitching, or semblance of stitching. The hand-stitched chain-stitch evokes so many different chains and fibres and threads - inherited silver chains, DNA - which one can connect to the subject matter.
