Interesting, I will need to go back and look again. The color is very intense in these. It is the nature of the materials.
I often find that the work I respond to personally looks nothing like what I make. I suppose if I tried to obtain the qualities I admire the art I make would be a sham. There is a way I work and it has evolved primarily from my printmaking experience but I certainly love a good drawing.
Schendel's work does not use as much color. At least not what I have seen. The drawings with text are beautiful.I prefer them to Mel Bochner.
