Beach blob

Attached is the piece that I made in class last Wednesday...I placed a certain number from a buch of pieces I collected to create a beach scene...a tile with an iron oxide print of a crab, some blue and white glass beads, sand colored tiles, pieces of a wave design from a plate and some grassy looking cheap digitally rendered tiles.  I was happy that the piece came together in a short time and the image is clear.  I enjoy working with the blobs of grout because I have to work fast and deliberate, so I have the pieces prepped ahead of time...however I would be interested in working with maybe just a few tiles and some dye to create more spontaneous designs with color within the work, so that it doesn't appear just as a traditional mosaic...i will explore this process further in the near future...

I really liked the other side for some reason. This side seems decorative, the other side had a delicate structure.

Yeah, I agree...this blob in a circle is still something I'm working out...I have some others I am waiting on to cure completely, they are more simple and have dye in the grout...hopefully it'll spark an exciting new direction...
