Richard - I delivered some artwork to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens here today. They have 2000 orchids in a special exhibition in their conservatory at present!!!! It will be up until the Sunday after this one - close to two weeks. if you happen to make it back into town to see Picasso again I highly recommend a visit to the garden!
That sounds incredible I would love to see that. I will be exiting this blog to check that out online to see what I can find out. I hope I have time.
In response to the other comment about the pros and cons of the panel vs. the plexi I wrote:
I love the look of the plexi, the translucency, and the organic and unpredictable nature of how the fluid paint dries. A huge drawback is the fragility of it. The slight chance of a scratch scares me to the point of keeping it locked away. Silly. The wooden panel seems durable even with the chalk pastel and because I don't have to wait for paint to dry it goes a lot faster. I enjoy them both and have really enjoyed working on them.
