Sarah / 3 media experiments

Here is my attempt at emailing my Jpegs. Just taking and editing the photos has given me real heartburn, so I hope this works. The first with the cherries began as a gel transfer on a canvas. I then stuck a gardening catalog to contact paper, soaked it and rubbed until it was transparent, and adhered it with gel. The cherries are rendered in charcoal and chalk pastels.

Number 2 is an acrylic painting on a canvas. Croissants and muffins.

The third is an acrylic ink painting on a smooth gessoed board. I bought the board at Hobby lobby, it was very inexpensive. I went back to get more, and they were all sold out! That seems to be the problem with Hobby Lobby.

The size of all is 8" x 10".

Please give some feedback!

Sarah

I really enjoy the layering effect on #1. The reds in the cherries really pull out the pinkish tone from the catalog page and the bright green provides a nice complement and contrast. The overall images seems a little bottom heavy to me with all of the darks. It looks like you started with some green chalk in the upper right, maybe tie in a little red or darker value with it.

With #3, the effect the acrylic ink has on the smooth board is beautiful, especially in the upper right and within the largest piece of apple. I might just have to go get some to try with my own experiments.

I can't wait to see more!

SUCCESS! and they all appear very tasty. - even juicy in one and two! Three is singing the sweetest song thus far... but it is early in the season.

Sarah, Nice work; I especially like the strokes of pastel and charcoal in the first one.

The third with the fluid areas at the top is my favorite of these. I want to put my finger on the image and move some of the other colors the same way as those in the top corners.

This is my second helping!(Hit the wrong key and "poof" it disappeared.) They are all edible, and the apricot color and red in #1 are delicious, but #3 takes the cake. I love the contrast and energy in it. Christine
