1. This is a collage using magazine photos, pastels and shellac, on watercolor paper. 12"x12"
2. This began as a sharpie drawing, got stuck to the transfer behind it in my journal and ripped, so I put red behind it, and then added color to the drawing itself with pastels and colored tissue paper. 12"x12"
3. This is an encaustic painting. Hot wax, crayons, oil paint, melded and polished, on 1/4" plywood. 12"x12"
I have no idea if this is going to work as it should. O well....

I am enjoying the presence of time in this work. It is palpable.
i enjoy the amorphous nature of these pieces the color and particles float as if are veils layering the work retta
I keep coming back to the one in the middle. It seems to have a mind and energy all its own.
I love number 2, especially when I consider the accidental quality of how it came about, getting stuck in your journal. Way to make lemonade from a lemon :)

The second is my favorite because of the colors. It is energetic.

These have so much movement and action that they remind me of scenes from "The Birds." The first is where the children and teacher are running down the hill from the school, the second is the birthday party and the third is when Tippi was motoring across the inlet in the boat.
