Andrew's Question

Andrew posted a good question on my blog. I answered it there, but I’m going to post it here too, in case you don’t see it on the blog. He asked what exactly is it about natural forms that inspires me. This is a very good, thought-provoking question. At the moment, there is certainly a fascination with the relationship between sticks and writing. Sticks themselves can form letters; we use a stick to draw in the sand; we use wooden pencils; branches make a moving tracery of "writing" against the sky. There seems to be an intimate, pervasive, yet oddly arbitrary, connection between trees and writing.
